This is not an emo post

I think I'm somewhat hypochondriac.
Since young I was positive I had brain cancer,
and now I'm worried I might be schizophrenic.
=.=

Then again,
this is a common condition for Clinical Psych students,
where everyone diagnoses themselves with some kind of psychological condition.
Or so they say.

We'll see.

Anyway, on to the more emo meaningful stuff.

I miss home. (What's new? Bo-ring)
And I can't sleep. (Same old same old)
See the way I typed a second voice behind those statements?!
Oh shit, maybe I AM schizophrenic!

*Slaps self twice on each cheek*

Ok. So anyway, tonight I tot I'll upload some nice pictures of the yesteryears.
Another main reason I'm doing this is to motivate myself to dress-up more,
and not wear aunty / home clothes and roam the streets of LA.
Haha, I've been wayyy to lazy.
Even for skincare and whatnots.

1. I miss dressing up and taking gorgeous camho / duckface pics.

2. I miss having a reason to dress-up.  And I miss partying.

p/s: I miss my all-time dress-up partner-in-crime. But tats redundant cos I tell you how much I miss you everyday anyway. :p

3. Who am I kidding? I miss all these people most who gives me the reason to want to go out and to want to dress up and to want to look good. And this is just a small fraction of them! :)

As the title goes,
this is not an emo post.

This shall serve as a reminder that I need to find new reasons to dress-up and feel pretty here!
I seriously think when you are all dressed-up,
it's kinda hard to feel depressed!
(unless the makes-up's wrong, the dress makes you feel fat, and the shoes just somehow hurt)

Should really try to sleep.
It's freaking 3am!

New comfort zone

I need to get used to "change"
Our student advisor told us that America is a land where change is valued,
where change is good,
and stagnant is bad.

Another reason why God brought me here I guess.
For one who likes and relishes in stability,
I am forced to change, to step out (constantly) of my comfort zone.

As of now, I don't think I'm doing very well.
Haha.

Coping is more like it.
But coping means I'm barely there,
and I want to excel at this "get used to the changes" game.
I need to.

Moved in.
Good room. Nice ambience. Kind landlord.

Now to adapt to the environment..

Being Chinese in America

I feel like I'm such an efficient blogger.
Haha.
Let's see how long this will last *smirks*

So today we decided to venture about and explore Chinatown!
Cos other tourist attractions like Disneyland and Universal Studios required more time and..
Financial abilities... Haha

Beware about lots and lots of ranting.
But don't worry, it's all balanced out with pictures.

One thing I have to re-emphasize.
The public transportation here is BAD.
Like really bad.

#1 Outfit of the day. Shirt my brother bought for me last Christmas. I think I express my homesickness in fashionable ways. LOL

Went online to check how we should make our way to Chinatown,
wrote down the bus number,
and went to the designated bus station.
Seems pretty straightforward right?

Except that the website did not tell us that this bus that we're waiting for only operates from 10pm to 4am.

Wow.

And, we waited for TWO HOURS for this non-existent bus. TWO FREAKING HOURS.
*deep breathes*

#2 We were waiting for Bus 45.

#3 Started camwhoring after a while..

#4 Then it was down to me only cos the other one was getting grumpy. Haha!

#5 Oh hello, it's still me :p

#6 We were bored enough to take pictures with the handsome dude in the CSUDH poster.

Continuing with the story.
After waiting for like 1.5 hours, we were thinking, hmmm.. A bit too long dy.
So we decided to ask around.
And the we waited another 10 mins for someone to pass by,
cos everyone drives here and you seldom see pedestrians.
And the kind soul gave us suggestions that we could take another bus to a transit center,
where we would be able to find out which bus we should take to Chinatown.

#7 So we finally boarded a bus that brings us to the transit station.

Upon arrival at the transit station,
it was quickly clear that no one knew how to get there.
All bus drivers only knew their own routes,
and no one knew for sure how to get to Chinatown.

And the information boards din help either!
I must say,
for a country so developed,
its quite surprising to find their public transportation as such.

So finally we decided to take a bus to Downtown LA,
where we would try to walk from there.

So we chose a bus that says Downtown LA,
but unfortunately,
there is no specific station named Downtown LA (we were obviously expecting it).

And so we missed the stop and went all the way to West LA.

Aiya, in short,
we spent another TWO hours on the freaking bus.

We almost gave up.

The thing is, I was soooo frustrated.
And all kinds of negative emotions emerged.
I felt helpless, lost and confused, physically of course!
And I miss the freedom of being able to drive in KL.

But eventually, we found the place la.
By accident some more!

#8 North Broadway Street. Love how Chinese characters are included on the signboard! :)

#9 Colorful things!

If you're wondering, Chinatown is very..
Pudu-ish and central marketish and not really China-ish.
I wouldn't say it worth a visit but it was a huge step for us as we really stepped out of our comfort zone.

#10 Ice cream truck!

#11 Da Xue Jie.

#12 Playing the piano under the hot hot sun. Talk about a "unique" experience. Hah!

#13 How most of the building aim to look like.

#14 Lanters. They reminded me of the Mooncake Festival.

#15 Ths actually look similar to the picture I took in Kyoto! Haha. You can see it here: Japan Trip

#16 The lao ren jia that needs to rest.

#17 Jackie Chan's Rush Hour was filmed here!!

#18 We were hungry after the whole expedition and so decided on this decent looking restaurant.

#19 Happiness! LOL

#20 Me and Chinese tea cup. =.=

#21 Waiting for our order.

#22 Camwhored. As usual.

#23 Ta-daaa! Its here!

#24 Basically this was our lunch AND dinner. Haha. This was the portion that I couldn't finish and had it tapao-ed for dinner.

#25 Milk tea is considered "exotic" drinks. O.o

#26 Try one piece for 15cents. Lolol.

#27 Newspaper vending machine. Looks pretty old school huh?

#28 At first glance I thought it was some Chinese hanyupinyin. It actually means Pedestrian Crossing. Haha!

#29 Random building. Because we were waiting for the bus back.

All in all,
it was quite an eventful day,
though most of the day were spent sticking my ass to the bus's seat.
Haha.

More adventures to come! Hopefully.

Moving day tmr!

Nighties :)

Almost One Week

Hello from California!
*wave wave*

I'm finally posting an update of my life here in the US so far.
Thing is, I wasn't being lazy (ok maybe a lil bit),
I was busy!

Haha, but I figured classes officially start next Monday so I better get my ass working :p

A few updates,
and very very random things..
not in chronological order.
I'm trying to insert as many pictures as possible so..
Enjoy :)

1. Finally got a room to rent! Hallelujah! Thank God! Since we're yet to move in officially, more pics will be up soon okay?

2. Have been going to campus almost every day! And it's so freaking hugeeeee. =.= Like 20 times bigger than UCSI. And btw, this is considered a "small" campus.. Ok la I jakun la..

3. Carls Jr here is like mehh.. Carls Jr in Malaysia has such a atas reputation, with people queueing and such.. Here its like so kelian and deserted and everywhere.. Haha! I'll never see Carls Jr the same way again lolol.. But do check out the Salsa Bar!

4. Being here in California with NO CAR is bad. The public transportation here is pretty bad, so thats why we were so grateful when Uncle Russell came all the way from OC to bring us around and shop for school supplies / daily products. Thank you so much once again!

P/s: I love my red highlights. :p

5. Finally got to shop at Target! Haha. Wanna see Wal-mart next.

6. Tried Chinese food. HEN NAN CHI! Chao ji nan chi. And look at the Sweet and Sour Pork. Pian ren one! Haha. Very very different from what we know huh? Its more flour than meat.

7. Oh ya! I got my student ID! Not bad right?

8. This is pretty disgusting. I've been "recycling" and alternating between two pairs of clothes for this past week. Haha. This one obviously no pictures. LOL

9. Never knew (No la expected actually) that I'll miss Malaysia so freaking much :') Dad and mum are camera shy lolol. <3 nbsp="nbsp" p="p">

10. I'm actually "scared" to roam around and check out other exciting places like downtown LA and shopping malls. Hmmm.. Or maybe plain lazy..

11. In US you are charged for receiving calls. More reason to not answer incoming calls! Haha.

I know this is not a real update update but yea.
Haha.
It's Friday night here, and I miss being part of the happening crowd back in Malaysia :(
But oh wells,
will try to explore around tomorrow!

Miss you all back home.
xoxo

Hello there

I feel compelled to update my blog.
Like, tonight.

First day in the United States of America.
First day of Hari Raya back home.
First day of being so far away from home and from the people I love.

First of all,
Hello there.
I'm safe and sound.
Thank God.

Secondly,
homesickness is baaaddd but not too bad.
Expected tearing to be part of the whole hoo-hah,
so yea,
so far so good.

Consciously reminding myself to live in the present,
to savor the moment.
That's the key of living life to the fullest.

Hence, so long Malaysia,
I'll see you real soon :')

p/s: Do you think I should amend the date and time on my blog to fit my current time zone? Hmm..

Next Week

Today is the day I can say..
"I'm leaving next week."

NEXT WEEK.
Who cares if it's a Sunday?
It's next week.

And while I have scheduled my time / things-to-do accordingly,
I suppose many of you can relate
to this feeling,
that there is simply,
NOT ENOUGH time.
(and not enough luggage space)

I wanna make sure things are in order for my sister.
Like the room, our shared wardrobe, clothes, accessories.
I have to make sure my brother's studies are ok.
And so far we've only covered chemistry.

And then I wanna spend more time with my family,
and say a proper goodbye to the ancient ones.
I haven't met the happenings in a while,
and there are a few more significant individuals...

*big sigh*
(uploads gorgeous self shot to feel better :p)

*big sigh again*

I feel like I'm standing in the middle of a sinking sand-pit.
Trying so hard to grasp on to things that I love, people that I care for, TIME especially.
And while this is not the end of the world,
it's so hard to just..
let go.

And then all emotions are held together by a tiny piece of thread,
a little slip of control and snap it goes.
I was half-jokingly discussing with my sister whether to mourn/cry these two whole weeks,
so that I might be numb when the time comes,
but then we decided that it was un-practical as I will be having puffy eyes / swollen cheeks for all the farewell pics.
Like, who would want that on Facebook right?
Haha!
Girls!

Ok! Back to work now!

Tomorrow is visa day!
*fingers crossed*

p/s: I wanna blog about Jakarta! And as usual I think I'm bipolar!
