So I Thought I Saw An Angel..

Me trying to be all angelic on Angel's Flight! *smirks*

Dubbed as the "Shortest Railway in The World",
Angel's Flight adds another vintage touch to the hustle and bustle of LA city.
You can read more about it here.

It's nothing reeeeeally special..
But worth a visit due to its historical value!
And plus, it's only 25 cents (around RM 0.75?) per way =.=
So why not?

# The lower station

Inside the train. Oh by the way, its called the shortest railway for a reason,
Whole trip was less than a minute?

So if you wanna camwhore (like us) and take pictures must do it quick! Haha.

This was at the upper station.
I think I was talking/thinking about something hence the awkward pose.

The upper station is linked to the California Plaza, which is mostly office blocks.
But there's some restaurants and cafes you might wanna check out.
And definitely a nice place to get more camho shots! :p

# Loving the view!

# Another awkward pose. =.=" Check out my chicken-feet-like hands. LOL

And being the city kids we were,
we ended up chilling at Starbucks! Haha.

Obviously from my expression I don't like the Marshmallow Dream Bar.
I think I was tricked by its meng huan (dreamy) name..

Ending this post with a duck-faced picture of me. (You know you like it anyway)
Universal Studios' Halloween Special coming right up!
Hopefully I don't lose my blogging mojo by then..

Exoh!

The Streets of LA

Saturday was funnnn!
Tiring, but we had fun exploring touristy spots..

Visited Grand Central Market in the morning.
Having visited Queen Victoria's Market in Aussie,
I kinda had high expectations for this one.

The interior and stuff are worth visiting..
But it ends there.
Snap a picture or two, try the Carnitas Tacos (pork tacos) and you're ready to go!
Hygiene wise it's a bit ummm.. You get it.
And for individuals like me who are not-so-fond (aka afraid) of pigeons,
this is definitely not a place to linger on..

Loving the city's vintage buildings!
Los Angeles has the "best" of both worlds:
Sleek, modern architectures alongside old, vintage apartments.
The stylish and rich alongside the poor and homeless.
It's difficult to grasp the contrasting-ness of such diverse social standards,
yet interestingly enough this is the culture that makes LA unique as it is.

# Random shot of the metro station before we started our tour. Our landlord so graciously gave us a lift to Downtown LA. Kamsahamnida Unni! :)

# Exterior of the Grand Central Market.. This is the second entrance actually..

# Informational posters lined outside the entrance

# Some interior shots of the Market. Loving the super old-school sundry shops!

# Had breakfast at one of the Chinese stores. The one we ordered is meh.. Its Chicken Vegetable something if I'm not mistaken.. But super big portion! Enough to feed 3 girls! On a side note, maybe asian girls only la. Hmmm.. Except Kei! Hor lalingg? LOL

# The famous Caritas Tacos. They'll hand out free samples (which is quite big!) for you to try.. But as we're not a big fan of fatty pork.. The food-testing sample was more than enough for us..

# Some of the nearby apartments and buildings..

# Parking for Flowers Only! LOL

After the Grand Central Market and the not-so-satisfying (sadly disappointing) breakfast,
we headed towards Angel's Flight..

Which will be in the next post! (Cos pictures not edited yet.. Haha)

Ending this post with a picture of me and my favorite store in the market..

That's all for now! Stay sweet sweeties! :)

Random Halloween Ideas #1

Since I had no plans for halloween,
I made plans preparing for halloween.

Haha.
How do you like my "Manly Sexiness" look?

Finally going out this weekend.
Where to?

You'll find out soon enough!
(Cos like duh I no idea pun.. LOL)

Of midterms, celeries and sunsets

Done with midterm!
Say yay say yay!
*turns head and looks at to-do-list*
.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh wells, maybe it's a bit too early for celebrations yet.

But things have slowly gotten into routine, damn well they should.
Life here is.. simple.
Eat, sleep, study, study more, skype, occasional swim, study some more.
They say I should go out more, but where?
Yet to be familiarized with the bus system here (which is super complicated and inconvenient btw so its not really my fault..)

Still, despite the mundane simple life so far, I'm surprised how I'm still discovering new things everyday.
Small little things.
Trivial stuff.

Like today we used "scantron", the answer sheet for multiple-choice questions.
It's exactly like the one we used in PMR/SPM, except that here,
we're supposed to buy it on our own. Like a note pad or something.

And like how yesterday I realized I actually like celery!
I hated it previously, just so you know.

We have winter break coming up, holiday for more than a month.
Dad was asking me whether I wanted to go home..
The simple, impulsive answer was Yes! Like duh..
But then,
I firmly said no.

First, because it's super expensive!
Holiday season lehh!
But most importantly, because I'm scared.
To go home and go through the "I'm leaving" process again.
Honestly, I know I'm not emotionally prepared to go through the whole turmoil and crying fits again.
>.<

So yea,
California you be good to me okay?
Make me love you more la,
so I can confidently go home one day knowing that I will want to come back here!

If California had a voice she would be saying:
"I'm so loveable ok? You just need to drag your lazy ass out of your room!"

...I think I better stop here.
Or I'll start a full-fledged monologue with myself.

Ending with a beautiful sunset shot, at campus today.

It's Finally Here

They say its the simplest things in life that make us happy.
Perhaps they're right, whoever they may be.

Received a parcel from home a few days back.

And boy, did it make me jump of joy.
Partly because of the small incident preceding it as well.
You can read about it in the previous post.
Trust me, there's nothing worth being so excited about in regards to the content of the parcel,
but merely its the thought that well,
its from home!

Recognizing Mumsie's handwriting! :')

Intently rummaging through the "treasure chest". Nah, you do not wanna know what's in there. LOL

Sigh.
I'm feeling pretty wistful lately.
If you know me,
you'll know I'm not that sort to be able to stay home for a long period of time.
And when I came here, I thought things changed,
I'm somehow comfortable confining myself to my own room.

But hey, guess what?
Turns out I'm still very "out-going", haha literally.
And the lack of "social life" here is slowly getting to me.
And so I've decided to get my drivers license by this year,
that is if I stop procrastinating.
And if I get a job on-campus asap! *praying hard*
Pray for me too ok?

So yea, for now,
you guys will not be seeing much of California,
unfortunately.

On a side note, I really do wanna go out for Halloween!
But they say trick-or-treating is for kids only :(

Oh wells.

Ending with a random pic of our first visit to McDonalds!

Thinking emotionally. Emotionally thinking

Our physical brain evolves from the formation of the brain stem.
In case you've returned all knowledge of biology to your respective teachers,
let me just recap quickly on what the brain stem does.

The brain stem is responsible for regulating bodily functions vital for survival.
These processes are usually something we're unaware of,
such as the pumping of the heart.

Now that we've established the foundation of our brain, what comes next?
The limbic system!
The limbic system is said to be largely responsible for our emotions, feelings, moods and temperaments.
And then we have the neo-cortex, where all our higher functions come into place.

Did you know that the term homosapiens literally translates to thinking individuals?

So anyway, what's my main point?
I know I know I'm getting there.
Patience!!

Today I read an article that says we evolved from having the brain stem, then the limbic system, and then the cortex.

In other words, our emotions come before thoughts.

As humans,
we like to be rational.
We like to think we know what we're doing,
but yet most of the time,
mama got it right all along:
Listen to your heart baby, listen to what your heart tells you!

Errrr..
Of cos, by heart I don't mean the physical pumping heart,
more like the metaphor of it: your feelings!

I'm somewhat perplexed.
Like, from young we were taught to analyze and think rationally and logically.
Never were we educated on the importance of emotions!
I felt like I was cheated. Haha.

So anyway,
I am here to remind you to listen to your heart people!
The term homosapien does not even come close to describing who we really are,
and what we can potentially be.

Acknowledge your emotions as they are,
if you're happy, let the joyous moment roll,
and if you're sad, let the tears flow!
Denying their existence only leads to negative consequences.

So...
If love is what you're feeling right now, go for it babe!
And if confusion is taking place, take a step back and assess how you really feel about it!

This post is inspired in part by my interesting reading,
and a little situation that came up unexpectedly last Friday night.
*It's not what you think it is*

Anyway, keep your emotions in check and have a happy week ahead!

My pretty smile just in case you need something to arouse your happy emotions! LOLOL

And also my "act-surprised/distressed/shocked" face just in case you find this slightly more amusing.

Oh my, I'm so vain.
Lalalala~

Back to work!
xoxo
