I'm frustrated.
Annoyed.
Angry.
Disappointed.
And, this morning I wanted to kick myself.
I missed the Delivery Guy.
I heard the bell but I brushed it off thinking it was the neighbor's.
This is called Zi Zuo Zi Shou.
T.T
*Pushes negativity away*
*Deep breaths*
Let's focus on the good stuff shall we?
Yesterday was.. spectacular.
The day started off with good news from my orthopedic visit.
No broken bones!
May require one month or so to heal completely but its definitely good news :)
But the highlight of the day was my Psychopathology class.
One of our assignments was to submit a journal entry after every class.
And and and..
I was personally requested by the professor to share mine in class to "enhance the positive learning of others".
*shy*
I felt like a kid in primary school, standing up to read your essay out loud that kind?
Haha.
That basically sums it all.
But it ended with positive response from my class la,
no one threw eggs on me.
But the one thing that really struck me was my professor's comment after the class applauded my impromptu presentation, she said:
"If there is something more to having chills reading your journal, it is to have it read aloud in class"
Omg.
I can fly and swell and burst of happiness I tell you.
I was thinking: I can't sing but I can cause goosebumps too! Yay! Lolol.
Ok, done with part one.
Part two was the.. presentation.
Not just any normal presentation but to lead the class in a diagnosis as well.
The presentation went very very well! Amen!
Our professor gave us approving smiles,
and we could answer all the questions without stuttering too much.
We managed the discussion pretty well too!
And somehow we made more friends cos one, everyone knows our name now.
And two, alot of them came by to congratulate us on our successful presentation.
I just feel so.. BLESSED.
All glory goes to Him!
Apart from being a humble brag,
this post serves to capture all these positive emotions.
To give me a dose of positivity whenever I feel like going down the negative spiral stairway again.
To remind me that I am still so blessed, in every way.
Sigh.
Life is full of ups and downs.
While we cannot always stay up,
we must remember that every down means we're going back up, very very soon.
Hang in there!
Perseverance is key!!
*back to assignments*
Oh ya, cannot have two lengthy posts with no pics one!
Haha.
#1 Us before the presentation.
#2 Us with the huge ass "bible" of clinical psych-ies.
#3 My current bffs. They keep my ass safe. LOL

Humpty Dumpty
My parents seem fond of that song,
and every time they sing that I think of myself as a bald egg.
Or something of that sort.
So anyway,
I fell down the stairs.
Nope, I wasn't on my phone or anything,
I just had pins and needles in my left foot.
I did not miss a step or anything,
but somehow my left foot gave way and I slipped.
And damn, I think this accounts for one of the most painful moments in my 22 years of life.
For someone with a high pain threshold as me,
I was immobilized for 3-5 minutes.
Just crouching in pain, couldn't get up.
Surprisingly, no tears.
*proud* Grown up liao. LOL
And then everything seemed ok for a while,
I stood up, went on with my mission of getting my bottle filled,
and went back up.
20 minutes later: the beginning of hell.
I couldn't sit, or stand in a certain position,
or lie down, or walk, or jump, or run.
I couldn't bend down, I couldn't go to the bathroom,
I couldn't move basically.
Ok la, maybe couldn't is a strong word.
Couldn't as in couldn't do it normally, each small movement becomes a huge pain in the ass.
LITERALLY pain in the ass because the tailbone is right there.
=.=
Sigh.
And now two days has passed with no significant improvement.
Finally dragging my ass (pun intended) to the clinic tomorrow.
Sigh.
The point of this post?
*nuthin*
I just need something to get my mind off the clinic visit tmr.
Worried la.
And scared.
Not so much on the pain but the long term consequences.
What if I cannot dance anymore?
What if I cannot wear high-heels anymore?
*cry*
Sigh. It'll be ok la I guess.
*ten fingers crossed*

Annoying Much?
I cannot comprehend people who annoys others for a living.
Ok la, obviously they did not do it on purpose.
And obviously you have the right and choice to be NOT annoyed by them.
This is just a random list of people (types) I cannot stand:
1. Zi yi wei shi kind of people. In other words, dunno much but pretending very hard to be know-all.
2. Rude people. People who dunno how to spell respect and manners.
3. Buay paiseh kind of people. Take everything for granted and demand you bow to them one.
4. Why-me?! kind of people. Like oh my god! Why me? Why I kena saman? (when obviously they did something to deserve it)
5. It's-not'my-fault-it's-the-world's-fault. Enough said.
6. Kepohs. People who poke their nose into everything and worst, think they know everything. Which brings us back to Number 1.
To balance out my mean-ness,
I need to clarify that all statements above are very VERY subjective,
and (if possible) it is not right to judge lar.
Chances are, for every type stated above,
I believe you can instantly think of someone you know.
If you have them,
be thankful, cos you're not alone.
If you dun have,
too bad, you have too little friends.
Haha! No la,
be thankful even more, cos you'redumb kind enough not to notice them.
And to balance it further,
the world is still a pretty place!
Hence, ending this post with non-annoying things,
like balloons.
Except those that go "pop" without warning.

Mindful Awareness
Have you tried being mindful?
Being mindful of the every single thing you're doing,
being mindful of your surroundings, your environment,
the words you speak the message you send across.
Mindful awareness is one of the topics our Psychopathology professor recommended us to read.
Well, it was categorized under "suggested readings"
But knowing the kiasu-ness in us Asians,
of cos read la.
And boy, am I glad I did.
And somehow this resonates with the other philosophies I have come to adopt as my own throughout the years.
To live in the present,
to live life to the fullest, basically.
And it requires a great amount of meta-cognition.
Simply, are you aware of your own thoughts?
Are you thinking about what you're currently thinking about?
And one might think that an accidental spill here, another accidental bruise there would be due to butter fingers or bad coordination.
But really, it reflects how one isn't in the present condition.
However, that doesn't mean one isn't totally NOT mindful.
He or she may be mindful about other things - such as mindfully daydreaming.
I can go on and on...
Anyway, hope you're being mindful about your thoughts and emotions today!
Set your path where you want it to be.
xoxo

This is not an emo post
I think I'm somewhat hypochondriac.
Since young I was positive I had brain cancer,
and now I'm worried I might be schizophrenic.
=.=
Then again,
this is a common condition for Clinical Psych students,
where everyone diagnoses themselves with some kind of psychological condition.
Or so they say.
We'll see.
Anyway, on to the more emo meaningful stuff.
I miss home. (What's new? Bo-ring)
And I can't sleep. (Same old same old)
See the way I typed a second voice behind those statements?!
Oh shit, maybe I AM schizophrenic!
*Slaps self twice on each cheek*
Ok. So anyway, tonight I tot I'll upload some nice pictures of the yesteryears.
Another main reason I'm doing this is to motivate myself to dress-up more,
and not wear aunty / home clothes and roam the streets of LA.
Haha, I've been wayyy to lazy.
Even for skincare and whatnots.
1. I miss dressing up and taking gorgeous camho / duckface pics.
2. I miss having a reason to dress-up. And I miss partying.
p/s: I miss my all-time dress-up partner-in-crime. But tats redundant cos I tell you how much I miss you everyday anyway. :p
3. Who am I kidding? I miss all these people most who gives me the reason to want to go out and to want to dress up and to want to look good. And this is just a small fraction of them! :)
As the title goes,
this is not an emo post.
This shall serve as a reminder that I need to find new reasons to dress-up and feel pretty here!
I seriously think when you are all dressed-up,
it's kinda hard to feel depressed!
(unless the makes-up's wrong, the dress makes you feel fat, and the shoes just somehow hurt)
Should really try to sleep.
It's freaking 3am!
Loves

New comfort zone
I need to get used to "change"
Our student advisor told us that America is a land where change is valued,
where change is good,
and stagnant is bad.
Another reason why God brought me here I guess.
For one who likes and relishes in stability,
I am forced to change, to step out (constantly) of my comfort zone.
As of now, I don't think I'm doing very well.
Haha.
Coping is more like it.
But coping means I'm barely there,
and I want to excel at this "get used to the changes" game.
I need to.
Moved in.
Good room. Nice ambience. Kind landlord.
Now to adapt to the environment..

Being Chinese in America
I feel like I'm such an efficient blogger.
Haha.
Let's see how long this will last *smirks*
So today we decided to venture about and explore Chinatown!
Cos other tourist attractions like Disneyland and Universal Studios required more time and..
Financial abilities... Haha
Beware about lots and lots of ranting.
But don't worry, it's all balanced out with pictures.
One thing I have to re-emphasize.
The public transportation here is BAD.
Like really bad.
#1 Outfit of the day. Shirt my brother bought for me last Christmas. I think I express my homesickness in fashionable ways. LOL
Went online to check how we should make our way to Chinatown,
wrote down the bus number,
and went to the designated bus station.
Seems pretty straightforward right?
Except that the website did not tell us that this bus that we're waiting for only operates from 10pm to 4am.
Wow.
And, we waited for TWO HOURS for this non-existent bus. TWO FREAKING HOURS.
*deep breathes*
#2 We were waiting for Bus 45.
#3 Started camwhoring after a while..
#4 Then it was down to me only cos the other one was getting grumpy. Haha!
#5 Oh hello, it's still me :p
#6 We were bored enough to take pictures with the handsome dude in the CSUDH poster.
Continuing with the story.
After waiting for like 1.5 hours, we were thinking, hmmm.. A bit too long dy.
So we decided to ask around.
And the we waited another 10 mins for someone to pass by,
cos everyone drives here and you seldom see pedestrians.
And the kind soul gave us suggestions that we could take another bus to a transit center,
where we would be able to find out which bus we should take to Chinatown.
#7 So we finally boarded a bus that brings us to the transit station.
Upon arrival at the transit station,
it was quickly clear that no one knew how to get there.
All bus drivers only knew their own routes,
and no one knew for sure how to get to Chinatown.
And the information boards din help either!
I must say,
for a country so developed,
its quite surprising to find their public transportation as such.
So finally we decided to take a bus to Downtown LA,
where we would try to walk from there.
So we chose a bus that says Downtown LA,
but unfortunately,
there is no specific station named Downtown LA (we were obviously expecting it).
And so we missed the stop and went all the way to West LA.
Aiya, in short,
we spent another TWO hours on the freaking bus.
We almost gave up.
The thing is, I was soooo frustrated.
And all kinds of negative emotions emerged.
I felt helpless, lost and confused, physically of course!
And I miss the freedom of being able to drive in KL.
But eventually, we found the place la.
By accident some more!
#8 North Broadway Street. Love how Chinese characters are included on the signboard! :)
#9 Colorful things!
If you're wondering, Chinatown is very..
Pudu-ish and central marketish and not really China-ish.
I wouldn't say it worth a visit but it was a huge step for us as we really stepped out of our comfort zone.
#10 Ice cream truck!
#11 Da Xue Jie.
#12 Playing the piano under the hot hot sun. Talk about a "unique" experience. Hah!
#13 How most of the building aim to look like.
#14 Lanters. They reminded me of the Mooncake Festival.
#15 Ths actually look similar to the picture I took in Kyoto! Haha. You can see it here: Japan Trip
#16 The lao ren jia that needs to rest.
#17 Jackie Chan's Rush Hour was filmed here!!
#18 We were hungry after the whole expedition and so decided on this decent looking restaurant.
#19 Happiness! LOL
#20 Me and Chinese tea cup. =.=
#21 Waiting for our order.
#22 Camwhored. As usual.
#23 Ta-daaa! Its here!
#24 Basically this was our lunch AND dinner. Haha. This was the portion that I couldn't finish and had it tapao-ed for dinner.
#25 Milk tea is considered "exotic" drinks. O.o
#26 Try one piece for 15cents. Lolol.
#27 Newspaper vending machine. Looks pretty old school huh?
#28 At first glance I thought it was some Chinese hanyupinyin. It actually means Pedestrian Crossing. Haha!
#29 Random building. Because we were waiting for the bus back.
All in all,
it was quite an eventful day,
though most of the day were spent sticking my ass to the bus's seat.
Haha.
More adventures to come!Hopefully.
Moving day tmr!
Nighties :)
